Reading-corner and quiet shelters

A reading-corner shelter is a small covered nook for quiet time, reading and story sessions. It gives early-years and primary children a calm, sheltered spot away from the busy playground, and works well as a SEND-friendly retreat.

Reading-corner shelters questions

Can a reading-corner shelter be made in our school colours?

Yes. The steel frame is powder-coated to any RAL or school colour at no structural compromise, so the reading corner can match a calming palette or sit quietly against the building. The polycarbonate roof is specified separately, clear for brightness or opal to soften the light.

Where is a reading-corner shelter usually sited?

Most reading corners tuck into a quiet corner of the playground or along a wall, away from busy running-around play, so the nook feels settled and calm. We agree the position on a site survey, keeping the covered space clear and close to the classrooms that will use it.
